After hearing whimpering, a woman in Wandiligong, a rural suburb of Victoria, Australia, discovered a stray puppy outside her home. The pup was brought to Alpine Animal Hospital in the neighboring town, where he was quite calm and accepting of attention.

The veterinarian noticed what appeared to be claw markings on the puppy’s back, which led her to believe he had been dropped by a bird into the woman’s yard.
